The show
Amy Winehouse is considered one of the greatest artists in the history of soul and jazz. The show ‘BACK TO AMY introduced by Lisa Hulinsky’ embarks on a musical but also very personal journey to this icon. In her musical programme, the young singer Lisa Hulinsky recounts the life story of Amy, but also her own. In doing so, she discovers mutual points of contact on many levels: Highs and lows, euphoria and melancholy, strokes of fate and electrifying experiences, moments of happiness and moments of doubt. Lisa Hulinsky finds herself in the songs of Amy Winehouse. They give her strength and comfort, but also shake her up and cause introspection.
Lisa Hulinsky's voice has the same dark-coloured soul and jazz character that Amy Winehouse still enchants the world with today. This intense connection leads to a musical and emotional identification that goes far beyond a mere role model.
The programme ‘BACK TO AMY introduced by Lisa Hulinsky’ is the logical consequence of the inner connection between these two artists. Lisa Hulinsky takes us back to Amy Winehouse and speaks to the audience in an intimate club atmosphere. Between the individual songs about emotional moments from Amy's life, Lisa also reveals parts of herself. By the end of the show, Lisa Hulinsky has brought the audience a little closer to the artist Amy Winehouse - far removed from the usual portrayal of a fragile female idol.
The interpreter
Lisa Hulinsky says about music: ‘It's my passion, my hobby - and my life.’ Music is a matter close to Lisa Hulinsky's heart. A family affair. Her grandfather, who travelled as a soloist with musicians from the Prague big band Felix Slováček, awakened her passion for music. She has been performing on stage since the age of five. Sometimes, she also performed with her grandfather. She has also been taking singing and piano lessons in jazz and pop since her earliest childhood days. To this day, she is particularly fascinated by jazz and the blues.
Amy Winehouse - a unique icon of music history. Her style, her personality and her vulnerability electrify Lisa Hulinsky. Two women come together in love and longing, helplessness and loss, but also in strength and vocal power. Lisa Hulinsky does not imitate. She does not copy. She gives each song a soul, creates her own interpretations, touches with emotion, power and closeness.
Lisa Hulinsky is multi-faceted. She has been performing in various formations for many years - as a duo, in a trio, in the swing of the big band. In addition to Amy Winehouse, she has lent her voice to interpretations of many other female personalities in music history, including Etta James, Ella Fitzgerald, Nina Simone and Billie Holiday.
Lisa Hulinsky feels a closeness to Amy Winehouse. It is a closeness with respect. She explains: ‘BACK TO AMY’ - this title also expresses the path to myself, to believing in myself, to my musical roots. Amy's music gives me the drive. It gets under my skin.’
